Do-It-Yourself Projects - Creating the Attic Theater

Most people have odd shaped attic space, and it may not seem suitable for anything other than a storage area. With a little bit of creativity and thought you may be able to create a wonderful room out of your attic space. This article will look at a few suggestions you might try to enhance your home in this area.

Several years ago I had a home with a rather large attic area. After living in the home for a couple of years, I had a need for more living space. I contacted a few contractors to look at the expense of adding an additional room. Or converting my garage into a family room area. After seeing the possible cost, I knew that I needed to be more creative. Then the idea hit me that I can possibly do something with my attic.

The first consideration with creating an addict theater is to consider the weight of people up in the room. Chances are, you will need to beef up all of the joints in the floor in order to accommodate added weight.

Another problem that you may have is getting 4 x 8 sheets of plywood up through the opening of your attic. This can be accomplished by enlarging the opening and installing a stair system.

You might need to hire a licensed contractor in order to run some of the wiring in order to accommodate things such as a big-screen TV and other stereo equipment or things that might be used in order to make it an entertainment theater.

You can install a few lights in the ceiling and put in some fans for good ventilation and air. Then simply set up your system, and you have yourself an attic theater. This is a great do-it-yourself project that does require some careful planning before purchasing materials.
